USB Memory Cards - Compatibility
In The Groove uses USB pen drives as memory cards.
In The Groove 2
In The Groove 2 is compatible with many more USB devices than In The Groove 1. There is no "Allow List" in ITG2, meaning that the game will try to use whatever USB storage device that you plug in.
There are several devices that have been reported to not work correctly:
- Some Lexar JumpDrive models
- Most high-power devices
- Apple iPod Shuffle
- Apple iPod Mini
- Rio Carbon
- some off-brands of flash drives
USB drive manfacturers frequently change the chipsets in their USB drives, even if they don't change the model number. Therefore, it's very hard to tell if a particular model is going to work.
We advise that players buy a small, cheap USB drive just for use with ITG. Keep you store receipt, and if you that your drive doesn't work with ITG, return to the store and exchange it for another model.
In The Groove 1
Only a few specific models of USB pen drives are allowed in ITG 1.0. The game will ignore any pen drive that isn't on the allow list (see below).
Formatting the USB memory card
The first partition on the pen drive must be either FAT or FAT32. Otherwise, the game will fail to load from/save to the drive. Nearly all USB pen drives come pre-formatted in FAT or FAT32.
